Becoming Unstoppable
They assembled together as one unit, tightly sideby side, a massive battering ram to plow right through enemy lines. If you learned the Spartans were coming, you wrote out your terms of surrender.
I don’t relate to this kind of primitive warfare as a focus, and I bet you don’t either. Recently, however, I did experience a beautiful example of focus and unity at an event I was at with Tony, my husband. It was a collaboration of eleven organizations whose job was translating the Bible into the remaining 3,400+ languages whose people do not yet have a word of it who are in Bible poverty.
These organizations all worked in isolation until a movement named “IllumiNations” brought them all together. Their focus is getting the Good News found in God’s Word to everyone. Resources are now shared freely across all boundaries, and the unity was astounding. God is moving in powerful ways, and people freely brought their financial gifts to add to the force of unity and focus.
Over $100,000,000 was raised in one weekend. I’d never seen anything like it. The remaining work is now estimated to be completed in just ten years, not 125+ as it was before focus and unity made it unstoppable.
This is something I can join. Every expression of my life can be focused on the power of the Word of God. Now is the time. Heaven will be too late. Another application? I whispered to Tony with a smile, “If all eleven of these organizations can find unity, you think you and I might find some?” It can be a challenge, just sayin’, in some seasons of a 39-year marriage!
Here’s something we can all do. It’s the Twelve-verse challenge. Just Google the word or go to www.Illuminations.Bible. It costs $35 to translate one verse into a new language. If a person commits $35 a month for a year, for twelve months, multiplied by how many folks are willing to join this focus and unity, then their translated verses all accumulate and they get to be a part of this unstoppable, eternal movement.
Let’s be unstoppable! All it takes is 1 + 1, Focus + Unity. I would love to hear your ideas and applications!
