November Newsletter

I’m surprised to find my last author newsletter was in July. Does time fly the older we get, or what?! Although I’m sure you’ve not been singing “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone,” in response to my absence in your inbox, I do hope you’ve missed me a little bit! So where has author me been? Most of you know I am a Commercial and Residential Realtor and CFO, and crazy enough, I had three of my five adult children buying Metro Atlanta area homes, all overlapping or at the same time. The work of all those transactions took over my life, and my book editing simply fell to the wayside, along with marketing tasks. Two of the three homes are closed, and the new home for my California son is under construction. It will be amazing to have Ryan and Linda living close by in Mableton (near Six Flags) in February!

Pillow Progress!

I am in the Developmental Edit Stage, which involves putting your author M.O. completely away and getting your reader M.O. out for the entire manuscript. This will help bring to light all the things that need to be fixed. It’s amazing what details get confused in your brain between the writing of page 1 and page 350.  I got this edit kicked off at the writer’s retreat of my Georgia Chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers.

After my real estate delay, I’ve picked it back up, and this month I made a big decision to let major chunks of one character, my angel, be cut and hit the edit floor (I did save it separately!) I now have room to finish the story of my main characters, and take them on into heaven for an amazing reunion. I’m having a blast with my heavenly imagination inspired by the truth in God’s Word of what He has promised us who believe in Jesus. I’m rewriting the last chapter now, and then will reread it again for a final edit. My goal is to have it in the hands of Janette, my coauthor by year-end so she can add her voice and expertise to this inspirational story.

Book Reviews

I have just finished Lisa Wingate’s “The Prayer Box”. It took a little bit to adjust to this author’s unique, creative writing style and voice, but about a third of the way into it, I was hooked and reading late in bed by my “Itty Bitty Booklight”.  I finished the last half of the book in one day when I should have been working, but I let it all go when couldn’t put it down. It made me laugh, cry, find courage for a challenging time in my own life and inspired some great ideas about the kind of life and legacy I want to live and leave.

Word Laughs

Whether it be some gigantic and new task, like writing a book, or finding the right property for your real estate clients, I thought you might need this reminder like I did. See Philippians 4:13 for the complete idea!

All the best!
